RESUMO: Este estudo objetivou descrever e analisar as características comportamentais empreendedoras (CCEs) predominantes dos alunos de graduação de Engenharia Civil de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior Privada no interior do estado de Minas Gerais. Pesquisas indicam que a identificação de tais características podem ajudar os indivíduos a enfrentar os desafios de empreender, assim como sua inexistência pode inviabilizar a formação de um negócio. Nesse sentido, ressalta-se que o ensino do empreendedorismo pode auxiliar a aprimorar tais características e habilidades de gestão, promovendo a aprendizagem empreendedora e assim diminuir os casos de insucessos empresariais. Esta pesquisa caracteriza-se como descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa e aplicação de um questionário desenvolvido por McClelland (1972), reagrupando em três dimensões: realização, poder e planejamento. Essas dimensões referem-se às características que o empreendedor bem-sucedido deve ter ou que precisa desenvolver: busca de oportunidades e iniciativa; persistência; comprometimento; exigência de qualidade e eficiência; correr riscos calculados; estabelecimento de metas; busca de informações; planejamento e monitoramento sistemáticos; persuasão e rede de contatos e; independência e autoconfiança. Participaram 139 alunos de graduação do curso de engenharia Civil. Os resultados da pesquisa apresentaram maior intensidade das CCEs atribuídas à busca de oportunidades e iniciativa, seguida pela existência de qualidade e eficiência e persuasão. Por outro lado, as piores intensidades foram observadas no comprometimento, correr riscos calculados e a persistência. Os resultados também demonstraram que em geral não existem diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os diferentes gêneros quanto à intensidade das características empreendedoras, assim como em relação à faixa etária. Os resultados também contribuem na formação de observação e ações junto às IES frente a tais aspectos, enquanto potenciais do desenvolvimento de novos empreendedores. Conclui-se que, a partir das características empreendedoras menos intensas nos alunos, necessita-se de reflexão, no intuito de possibilitar o aprimoramento das atividades práticas aderentes às peculiaridades e ao conceito dessas características, pois no momento em que se aperfeiçoam tais práticas, proporciona-se ao aluno uma forma diferente de aprendizagem.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to describe and to analyze the predominant Entrepreneurial Behavioral Characteristics (EBCs) of Civil Engineering undergraduate students of a private higher education institution in the interior of the State of Minas Gerais. Studies indicate that the identification of such characteristics can help individuals to face the entrepreneurship challenges of as well as their inexistence can make business formation unfeasible. In this sense, it is emphasized that teaching entrepreneurship can help to improve these characteristics and management skills, promoting entrepreneurial learning, and, thus, reducing cases of entrepreneurial failures. This study is characterized as descriptive, using a quantitative approach, and a questionnaire was developed, developed by McClelland (1972), to assemble the achievement, power and planning dimensions. These dimensions refer to the characteristics that the successful entrepreneur must have or need to develop in order to search for opportunities and initiatives: persistence; commitment; quality and efficiency requirements, even at taking calculated risks; goal setting; information; systematic planning and monitoring; persuasion and network of contacts; and search for independence and self-confidence. One hundred and thirty-nine Civil Engineering undergraduate students participated in this study. The results showed a higher intensity of the EBCs attributed in the search for opportunities and initiatives, followed by the existence of quality, efficiency, and persuasion. However, the worst intensities were observed in the commitment, in the calculated risks and the persistence, whose data indicated that, in general, there are no statistically significant differences between the different genders regarding the intensity of the entrepreneurial characteristics, as well as in relation to the age group. By observing the less intense entrepreneurial characteristics of the students, it is concluded that there is a need for reflection in order to improve the practical activities adhering to the peculiarities and concept of these characteristics, since, at the moment that these practices are improved, the students are given a different form of learning.
